What is the difference between a 1965 and 1966 Mustang?

The 1966 refined the 1965. The clearest tells are the grille (the 1966 has a floating pony without the horizontal bars), the side trim and fake rear scoops, and the dash, which moved from the 1965's Falcon-style strip to a proper five-dial instrument cluster. Mechanically they are nearly identical, so both restore the same way.

What is a K-code 1966 Mustang?

The K-code is the High Performance 289 V8, rated at 271 horsepower. It is the most valuable engine option in a 1966 Mustang and the one collectors chase. If you have a genuine K-code car we restore it to preserve that value, and we can verify it from the VIN and codes.
